If the courts exempt businesses from providing birth control based on their personal religious beliefs and/or misunderstanding of birth control, women employed by those companies may not be able to afford their own care, or the care of a potential child. By giving businesses a choice of providing Birth Control or Paid Maternity Leave (or other equal reproductive care) instead of an exemption, their beliefs will not be violated. Women employed by these businesses will still have some form of paid care, and other secular businesses will not be tempted to be dishonest in order to get out of paying for birth control.
