I find it dismaying that you are extending the number of VISAS for software engineers.
My son is a software engineer working for one of the ‘too big to fail banks.’ He tells me that without exception all of the engineers in his group, and this is a group of 70, are foreigners on VISAS. Yes, he is the sole American educated/American citizen in his group.
The other day the bank wanted to get a VISA for another foreigner and they were asked by the State Dept. why this should be granted since there were at least 40 American citizens with the same skills who were collecting unemployment insurance.
My son knows many American trained/American citizens/ who can not get jobs as software engineers. The ‘too big to fail banks,’ as well as Google and Microsoft are guilty.
