Mr. President, I write these words to you as someone struggling, living paycheck to paycheck with around $40 a paycheck for food; please do not increase minimum wage.
I, myself make slightly less than 20k a year, and there are many like me who have a hard time affording food. Increasing the minimum wage will only cause employers to raise their prices, while my employer will certainly not increase my wage.
We have seen this any time a minimum wage increases; employers don't want to sacrifice their million dollar bonus checks, so they increase prices to compensate.
I understand this will help the minimum wage workers, but perhaps an alternative is in order. I am no economist, but perhaps you can enlist your cabinet to give benefits to companies with well-payed employees.
