States have enacted popularly supported marijuana legislation that serves their citizens well. The medicinal dispensaries pay rent, pay taxes, pay employees, and reduce illicit drug sales.
Marijuana has been and will always be consumed. Closing dispensaries to prove a point that the federal government has authority in such matters comes at a heavy cost. Marijuana users will purchase via illicit drug dealers, tax revenues will be lost, employees will lose jobs, and landlords will have less tenants to rent to.
The hypothetical problems related to dispensaries have not materialized, but the benefits have. Beyond the negative impact to the economy, state residents have already expressed their support of these dispensaries. Surely there are more pressing law enforcement goals
