Not make the economy worse by backing the proposed $100 general aviation user fee!

The White House responded to the original White House petition, started by AOPA member Kevin Mossy, stating that "The proposed $100 per flight fee would generate an estimated $11 billion over 10 years, reducing the deficit [...]." What they forgot to look at is that if you charge any fee for flight, there will be a large reduction of pilots who fly, and thus less income from the fee, as well as a severe worsening of the aviation economy. If no one is flying, no fuel will be bought, no tools will be bought, no FAA maps will be sold, etc... If someone's Cessna 152 burns about $40 of 100LL per hour, there is no way that they'd pay more than double that so they could fly. The stereotype of pilots being rich folks is not true. They are hard working people who struggle enough to make a living.
