Murder is illegal yet thousands of American citizens are murdered annually. Meth, Weed, Cocaine and other drugs are illegal however we have millions of American citizens using drugs. School zones are currently "gun free zones" yet as clearly proven in CT criminals do not follow such laws.
While we can take steps to protect American citizens and our children this should not be done by eliminating the lawful and constitutional rights of American citizens.
Deranged individuals will always find a tool to fulfill their destructive desires. Was the federal building in OK destroyed by guns? Was the Trade Towers destroyed with guns?
