Recent plans to physically merge the US Vatican Embassy with the US Italian Embassy are an insult to over a 1 billion Catholics worldwide.
The excuses of economy and security are nothing but transparent cover-ups of this blatant attempt to reduce The Vatican to a status below negligible.
It smacks of retribution against US Catholics for their opposition to the Obama administration's anti-life, anti-real-family policies, and speaks to the littleness of this White House in dealing with the vast Christian majority of this country.
The Vatican is a most important cross-roads of international diplomacy that, because of its inherently supra-political nature, warrants the greatest diplomatic respect. The greatest country in the world, the USA, can certainly afford a suitable embassy there.
