not swear the oath of office upon the Bible during the inauguration.

Created by N.T. on January 17, 2013

Rev. Louie Giglio, a Christian evangelical pastor, was tapped to give the benediction at the president's inauguration. However, when a sermon from the 1990s in which the pastor condemned homosexuality surfaced, Giglio was asked to step aside.

President Obama has clearly shown his contempt for the teachings of the Bible by this action. We ask that the president not place his hand upon the Bible when taking the oath of office during his inauguration. To do anything less would be the defilement of a holy book to which the president does not attest and an insult to millions of Christians the United States.
