This is in response to the news reports of administration officials considering options to press federal charges for possession of small quantities of marijuana. The voters of Colorado and Washington made it clear that they didn't want to waste their law enforcement resources pursuing small scale users. The net results of that are imprisoning our citizens for something that even this president has done in his youth. While these state laws controvert federal law, the federal government has shown the capacity to choose how they enforce federal laws (see this administration's understandable reluctance to defend DOMA). I'm not asking the president to enact any form of executive overreach. The administration has the option to not attempt to persecute people in those two states for these actions
