Military retirees could loose anywhere from $70,000-$124,000 in retirements that were earned and promised. While we loose 1% of our retirements new federal workers just have to pay only 0.5% extra in their pension fund. I fail to see where this is fair to those that are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We do not receive overtime when we are called in after our shifts. We leave our families and deploy anywhere from 6 months to 18months in some of the worst conditions possible. This move could be extremely detrimental to recruiting efforts of new service members and our military as a whole.
Military retirements should be off limits permanently for any budget deals. Our uniformed men and woman should not be a leveraging tool after serving 20+ years admirably.
