NYC's ACS is terminating their long lasting contract with Green Chimneys' Children's Services and forcing the closing of two of the most respect foster care locations in the city. Both houses are operated by Green Chimneys and is home to roughly 20 LGBTQ youth aged 16-20. The house is supportive of its children and the majority of abuse allegations predates Green Chimneys' year old change of management of both locations. The closing of the house would possibly increase the safety risk for the youth who have called the program home from as long as 2 years to 5 years. Although diverse, NYC still has issue with discrimination especially with circumstances about sexual/gender identity.
