Currently the Palestinians are seeking to circumvent the United States and Israel and have the United Nations unilaterally declare the an independent Palestinian state. Such a measure not only undermines the fragile peace process, but comes in spite of the Palestinian leadership's refusal to negotiate with Israels since September 2010. The United States is currently the largest contributor to the United Nations. We must show that we meant what we said, that unilateral action is not the answer. If the Palestinians gain recognition at the General Assembly, all UN aid should be cut to organizations that recognize a Palestine. Peace can only be obtained from talks between the Israelis and Palestinians themselves, not granted from a third party.
