When July 4th falls on a Tuesday-Thursday, great stress for the American workforce can be observed. One cannot truly celebrate the birth of our nation when we have to return to work the next day. Many fireworks celebrations stretch into the night and for those having to return to work the following day, this is an annoyance. It is also difficult to have family and friends over when the holiday falls during the midweek; planning cookouts and get-togethers becomes nearly impossible when July 4th is surrounded by workdays.
By federally recognizing Independence Day of either a Friday or a Monday, American workers can enjoy a true holiday and celebrate their nation to the fullest.
