We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Occupational Targeting Act: Amending Title 18, Section 249, Subsection 1 to included occupations as a hate crime target

Created by M.B. on July 18, 2016

Following the recent and deliberate targeting of law enforcement officers based on bias, speculation, and unfounded generalizations, I urge both the President of the United States, and this nation's elected Congress, to enact common sense legislation punishing the specific targeting of law enforcement personnel as a hate crime.

Amending Title 18, Section 249, Subsection 1 to include statutory provisions denoting the willful and malicious targeting of an individual based solely on their profession, or occupation, with the intent to cause injury in any fashion, by any legally recognized means, is within your power, and is only appropriate following the ideals of justice, law, and public order.

Officers are the first line of public safety. They no less than safety in return.
