TEPCO and Japan's government do not have the necessary manpower and technology to properly handle extracting the spent fuel rods from the badly damaged Fukushima's Unit 4.This is a situation that could become a disaster on a global scale. If those spent fuel rods are exposed to air and ignite the fumes could have unimagined negative effects on our biosphere for centuries. And the continual leaking of atomic waste in the ocean and if it increases could severely damage the ocean. It is imperative that this be a global issue rather than a Japanese issue. If we offer our best scientists and equipment and ask other countries to do the same we can exponentially increase the chances that those fuel rods are safely extracted and stored and avert disaster.
