Offer an executive pardon to 1LT Michael Behenna, who is in prison for killing an Al Qaeda operative in self defense.

Created by L.P. on February 02, 2013

On 3/20/2009, Army Ranger 1LT Michael Behenna was sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing Ali Mansur, a known Al Qaeda operative while serving in Iraq. Mansur was known to be a member of an Al Qaeda cell operating in Lt. Behenna's area and intel shows he was part of an IED attack which killed two of the 1LT.'s men. Mansur was eventually captured and then ordered for release without explanation by Army intel units. 1LT. Behenna escorted Mansur home, conducted a field interview of Mansur and was attacked by Mansur who lunged for his gun. 1LT. Behenna responded by shooting Mansur in selfdefense. Even though an expert witness backed the 1LT.'s testimony, he was still sentenced to prison. We the people ask the president back his troops and give 1LT. Behenna an executive pardon.
