Offer principal reduction loans that alleviate negative equity in homes around military bases affected by budget cuts.

Created by C.T. on March 27, 2014

The drawdown of military actions coupled with reduction in force are already having severe adverse actions on housing markets located near military bases throughout the U.S. These areas have seen home value decreases much greater than other areas in the country. This was identified by Sen. Charles Schumer, (D., N.Y.), and the Joint Economic Committee in 2008, yet nothing has been done to date to assist those affected by furloughs, shut-downs, reductions in force/drawdowns, etc. Many affected are active duty military, formerly employed veterans, as well as gov't contractors (mostly comprised of veterans). The Gov't should mandate principal reduction alternatives irregardless of the homes being primary residence or not, as most are unable to find work in these areas. This will worsen.
