I would like to see the government offer grants for the installation of security equipment at schools. The schools would determine their needs, evaluate the costs, and apply for a grant to cover the cost of the equipment they need. If approved, they would receive the funding needed, then have a set amount of time to get the equipment installed. A final report from the school would include all expenses, and any extra funds would need to be returned.
This funding could cover outside and internal intercoms, stronger door locks, unclimbable fencing, glass reinforcement, security cameras, metal detectors, and so on.
