The availability of guns is the primary reason for the high level of gun deaths in this country. The problem is far greater than the mass shootings that make the news. It is the 30,000 deaths every year we seldom hear about.
The United States has too many guns. Increasing controls will do nothing to the address massive number of guns that are currently available. Furthermore, there is no political will to address existing guns. But, allowing gun owners to voluntarily turn in their guns for tax credit may be one way of removing some portion of guns from circulation.
