Officer Porter should not be forced to give up his 5th amendment right. Do his rights mean less then someone else's?

Officer William Porter, is being forced to give a testimony in the Freddie Gray trial in Baltimore that would incriminate him. he attempted to plea the 5th amendment and the superior court is forcing him to testify and give up his 5th amendment right.
