Justina Pelletier has been held captive by Boston Children's Hospital since early 2013. Her family has been in a long legal battle to gain back custody of their daughter, who suffers from mitochondrial disease. However, the hospital has stated that they know better than the parents, and are holding her hostage. Justina may die if she does not receive the correct medical care, which she is not receiving from the state. We the people petition the Obama administration to officially call upon the State of Massachusetts for the immediate release of Justina back to her parent's custody.
