The official nickname and branding of the Washington D.C. National Football League franchise is offensive and racist towards Native Americans. The "Redskins" nickname is offensive and perpetuates a level of intolerance and bigotry towards Native Americans that is unacceptable. The White House needs to officially come forward and condemn the name and imagery, and urge the NFL and team ownership to change the name, while introducing legislation that would halt any public funding for a future stadium for the team in the District of Columbia.
