On June 5, 2013 Edward Snowden's leaks began a series of publications that opened the eyes of the American Public to global surveillance activities being participated in by the National Security Agency (NSA). This led to the American government accusing him of treason forcing him to take political asylum despite the fact that publishing confidential American government documents was deemed legal in New York Times co. v United States (1971).
For the brave actions of this international hero and his courageous demeanor we would like to move to officially declare June 5 Edward Snowden day, to celebrate the courage of a man to stand up to a giant for the sake of freedom and truthfulness.
