This petition, in light of the supreme court ruling striking down regulations of campaign contributions for politicians. Wealth is now effectively political clout. Recognizing the fact that 1% of the population controls the vast majority of wealth, they now control the majority of government in all future elections. In order to prevent confusion with a truly republican or democratic form of government, the United States should, on President Obama's departure from office as the last truly elected President before this ruling, be officially recognized as an oligarchy, by presidential order.
