Independence Day is the only holiday Americans describe by a date instead of a name. Whereas this federal holiday was, in fact, established in order to celebrate our independence, we should refer to it not by its date, but as "Independence Day." I therefore petition the US Government to make the name of this holiday officially "Independence Day."
