Following a conflict between the Greek and Turkish cypriots on Cyprus, the nation of Cyprus was divided. The southern nation, Cyprus, continued to be recognized as the only official government. As a result, North Cyprus is slowly becoming a puppet state of Turkey, the only government that recognizes it. The lack of recognition limits the rights of people there to travel freely and prevents North Cyprus from contributing to the international community.
