To request the President to urge Congress to make the national Election Day, the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, on whatever date that first Tuesday should fall, as a national holiday. Making one of the most important days in America a national holiday helps all Americans have a non-restrictive and full-day means for voting. Since Congress mandated a uniformed date for presidential and congressional elections, they should have no reason to wince at making that day either a national holiday or an extra time-off day. Many states already permit workers to take time off from work without loss of pay. Congress must create uniformed voting within all fifty states, whether as extra time for working voters, or as a full national holiday for all.
