Once the war in Afghanistan winds to a close we should begin a new race to the Moon with subsidies for private companies

Created by A.E. on October 02, 2012

Once the Obama administration winds down the war in Afghanistan in 2014, I think it would be prudent to focus the young men and women of the armed forces on a specific goal after they return home. This goal, to get to the Moon by the end of 2015 would be a morale boosting, technology advancing, kick-in-the-pants lollapalooza for the entire country. We need to bring hope and wonder back to America. We have to make a pivot from wartime to peace time with the flair of everyone's favorite satellite. If not just as a race, we could put a supercomputer on the moon that could be a feed to Earth from extraterrestrial areas that we explore in the future. This would be a crowning achievement for any private party, especially if they used the millitary folks that helped keep America safe.
