One idea for economy and environment

An idea for the economy and the environment:  What if the federal government paid to instal sustainable energy in every city? Be it solar, wind  hydroelectric or geothermal energy.  The government would build sustainable energy plants, solar, wind, or geothermal and then sell the new power plants to private companies, making a profit off the sale.   It could solve our carbon emissions problem and it would create jobs for many Americans.  When the new power plants are up, the government could sell this new and profitable power to the highest bidder.  They would take over running and maintaining  the plant from there on.  The sale would hopefully also help with national debt
