Only pay U.S. Government officials (Congress, President, Judges, etc.) the U.S. national income average.

Created by J.S. on October 05, 2011

Individuals who run for public office at any level of Government do so as a public service and should not act on the behalf of their financial well being. Public officials earning multiple times more than the average U.S. citizen makes them lose touch with the very people they are meant to represent.

This petition is to change the way in which individuals who hold public office are paid. The U.S. Census found that in 2010 the median household income was roughly $45,000.

By signing this petition, U.S. citizens will say that they believe that the people in office who represent us should only receive the yearly salary equivalent of the average American.

This discussion on public official pay would make politicians understand what it is like to live on the average American budget.
