The Obama administration should uphold its duty to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States by investigating the serious affront to democracy that has occurred in Oakland. The mass arrests and violent crowd dispersion tactics used by the OPD to attack a peaceful assembly are in clear violation of the First Amendment. Their completely unjustified force has manifested itself quite clearly in the countless scars and injuries of nearly a hundred protestors, most visibly on Iraq War veteran Scott Olsen. To ensure that the rights of the people to exercise their Constitutional rights are protected throughout the nation, we deserve a serious investigation into these abuses.
