"Open The Doors" of Artists Art Studios During the Houston Art Fair

Created by L.L. on October 13, 2016

In 2015, the global art market achieved total sales of $63.8 billion, 43% was generated by American artists. During the Houston Art Fair, a city event, professional artists were forced to close their studio doors during fair hours for 4 days. We are petitioning to ; Open The Doors, at the nations largest concentration of art studios; Silver Street, Winter Street, Summer Street, Spring Street and the Silos in Texas where the fair is located and for any other public or private event held at these locations to support local artists. We are also petitioning for artists to be properly compensated for the loss of business based on exhibitor rent earned during these events or receive pro-rated rent due to forced closure of the art studios, especially for artists without proper ventilation.
