Open Up Equality of Responsibility for Women Reaching Age 18 to Register With the Selective Service, Just as Men Do Now

Created by S.J. on December 04, 2015

On December 3rd, 2015, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced all positions in the military will no longer have gender restrictions. Any gender will be able to serve in any capacity so long as the standards are met.

Equality of opportunity in military service was achieved with this change. Now, equality of responsibility to serve this nation should a draft be necessary must follow, in order for this change to be legitimate.

In times of need, our nation should not prevent over 50% of the talent of this country to be called to serve. We call on the President to work with Congress to require women to register for the Selective Service on a their 18th birthday, just as men do today; and for women to face the same penalties men face now should they not register for Selective Service.
