The federal government can decrease health care spending and increase interest in science and health degrees by opening and operating federally run hospitals that treat the elderly and poor in each state. These hospitals would be run by medical school graduates that are received free medical school tuition from the Federal Government in exchange for 5 years of service at the hospitals. This would decrease the reimbursements for medical professionals by the US Government for Medicare and Medicaid services and increase the number of students pursuing Medical education but are deterred by the excessive costs of medical school.
