Open a federal investigation into the violation of the civil rights of Kelly Thomas in his fatal beating by police.

Created by D.N. on January 13, 2014

On July 5, 2011, Kelly Thomas, a mentally ill homeless man at the time living in California, was picked up by Fullerton police as they were looking for a suspect involved in stealing parts off cars. Fullerton did not understand commands from the police officers to submit, and was beaten to death by multiple Fullerton, California police officers. A nearby camera captured both video and audio of the entire incident. Two of the involved officers have since been found not guilty of murder. It seems likely that while in the course of being beaten to death, that Mr. Thomas's civil rights were violated, and I petition the Obama administration to open a federal investigation into this violation of his civil rights.
