The Department of Justice should open a federal investigation into possible criminal activity undertaken by financial firms and individuals which contributed to the American financial crisis, the unemployment of millions, the eviction of Americans from their homes and the destruction of retirement funds of many including working class families. The objective of such an investigation being a federal prosecutions and legislation designed to prevent such a catastrophe from occurring in the future as well as the possible secondary effect of breaking the cyclical nature of recessions in the country.
