This petition opposes any legislation to degrade military pay or housing to its current economic purchasing power. The US government is currently seeking ways to reduce spending, however cuts that target active duty military personnel, military families and veterans should not be on the table. Our military members and veterans volunteered to give up their rights and potentially their lives to protect us and our interests. It is unjust to shift the burden of our military budgets and debt onto these individuals that have already sacrificed so much.
This petition does not suggest military cuts should not be made nor is it commenting on troop levels or foreign policy. Potential cuts should be aimed at non-essential programs or contracts; not at our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines
