The BATFE is proposing a ban on XM855 and SS109 style 5.56x45mm ammunition. These rounds DO NOT meet the definition of an "Armor Piercing" round and SHOULD NOT be considered for a ban. The rounds are comprised of a steel tip and lead core. The fact these are not entirely steel core, and lead is not on the following list, should exclude these rounds from being considered "Armor Piercing". Let us show our strength to keep the BATFE from advancing any further with this proposition!
The definition of Armor Piercing:
“(i) a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium, copper, or depleted uranium.”
