Oppose the Censorship of Video Games as a Solution for Gun Violence.

Created by M.K. on January 17, 2013

After every incident of mass gun violence, video games are shoved into the spotlight as a potential cause. We, the gaming community, are used to this. Still, the unfounded blame of games for gun violence has become a troubling trend.

Recently, President Obama ordered the CDC to investigate the link between gun violence and video games. This Executive Order is harmful to the video game industry because it creates a precedent that lawmakers will exploit to skirt the gun control issue. The measure also puts video games in danger of censorship, violating the First Amendment rights of our medium.

The administration should repeal this Order and refocus its efforts on measures that will contribute to the safety of our nation. The censorship of video games is not a solution for gun violence.
