The Keystone XL Pipeline proposed by the TransCanada company will NOT be beneficial to the American people. The crude that would be transported from Canada to the Gulf Coast is 5-15% more carbon intensive than the usual crude in the United States. This means the refining process will release more greenhouse gases and air pollutants that will harm our environment and lead to further global warming. The pipeline will also be very expensive, costing about 7.6 billion dollars. It will only provide a handful of temporary jobs. And some people think it will reduce our dependency on foreign oil, but all the oil refined in the Gulf will be shipped to Europe and Latin America. There is a definite possibility for spills which would be detrimental to the Ogallala Aquifer in Nebraska. Oppose and sign.
