option for an inventor to sell selected patents to the Government where upon such patents would enter the public domain.

This would create a path for inventors of major innovations in energy, medicine and other areas of national interest to receive reasonable compensation for their efforts without having to either engage in major manufacture or sell their patents to large corporate entities that have a history of 1) paying as little as possible for the invention; 2) stealing ideas outright with a "catch as catch can" attitude; or 3) blocking the invention altogether to preserve private interests in newly obsolete practices. This path would at the same time allow all manufacturers to compete with the new technologies while compensating the inventor. The government would not be required to buy a patent, nor would the inventor be required to sell. It is a new option.
