Our cities' nuisance codes against allowing litter to lie have not been much enforced since the '70s, when Nixon bought our cops for his drug war. Litter is disorderly and encourages disorderly criminal conduct. It is beneath nobody’s dignity to pick up litter. It is the duty of every resident to keep one’s property clean. It is the duty of every public servant to keep public property clean. The United States should follow all local nuisance ordinances, so as not to be a nuisance to its neighbors. Picking up litter every day would remind our public servants that they are our servants and yet they would lead us by their example.
THEREFORE, we ask that the federal government order all paid federal employees under their authority, to pick up litter every day for 1/2 hour.
