Every year Congress holds our country hostage by telling the American people that if they are unable to get an agreement for the next budget they will be unable to pay for Social Security payments, Active Duty & Retired Military pay & Benefits, Medicare/Medicaid benefits and other assorted benefits while they sit in Washington collecting their pay without any fear of reprisal. This is especially detrimental to those whose sole source of income is from SSI or Military Pay when these threats are made. We ask that the White House issue an Executive Order that states Congress must forfeit their pay every month that our government has to operate without a budget in order to continue to pay our service members & those who rely on the benefits that are always threatened in a government showdown.
