The midnight ration service (“MIDRATS") provides hot breakfasts to U.S. Marines on midnight-to-noon shifts and hot dinners to Marines who are ending noon-to-midnight work periods at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan. MIDRATS are being discontinued as a cost saving measure as part of the drawdown of our forces in Afghanistan. Consequently, Marines on the midnight-to-noon shift will have to subsist on Meals Ready To Eat (MREs). This will adversely impact the morale and esprit de corps of our fighting men and women serving in harms way. Our Marines deserve hot chow!
