Through his work as an engineer, inventor, and creator, American Nikola Tesla contributed to the development of technologies as diverse as wireless communications and high-voltage power transmission, and many of his inventions—for which he was awarded more than 250 patents—are still in widespread use throughout the United States and almost every other nation and territory on the planet.
Tesla came to the United States with little more than his intelligence, creativity, and willingness to work, yet he did much for our nation. He was, and remains, a model for Americans, be they citizens by birth or naturalization.
With this in mind, we petition the President and Congress of the United States of America to order the United States Mint to strike a national medal in honor of Nikola Tesla.
