Order the Department of Defense to require DoD components to have Humanist Chaplains for non- theists

Created by M.K. on June 24, 2015

Within the DOD the non-religious are the largest single demographic at nearly 23%. Whether these are atheist, humanist or other, these individuals deserve a non-theist support channel that provide emotional support and services from a non-theistic perspective. A Humanist Celebrant is legally equivalent to ordained clergy and entitled to all privileges under the law within their state, including solemnization of weddings and “clergy” confidentiality. Humanist Chaplains are also recognized as official chaplains in many organizations. For example, The Humanist Society is recognized by the Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc., an affiliate of the Association of Professional Chaplains.

The non-theists of the Department of Defense deserve a chaplain.
