Order the Dept of Defense and the VA to streamline their systems and reduce the backlog for veterans benefits ASAP

Created by M.T. on March 28, 2013

As Jon Stewart pointed out on the Daily Show on March 27th, the administration has allowed a bureaucratic swamp to develop between the Dept of Defense and the Veterans Administration. After the President promised to take care of the veterans returning home from two active war zones, the number of veterans who wait more than a year to receive benefits has exploded, increasing by over 2000% according to a CNN news report, and the claims backlog lasts the better part of a year.
The President needs to order the Veterans Administration to immediately roll out a computerized claims system and needs to address the incompatibility of systems used by the Dept of Defense and the VA to determine which soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are in need of care when they return home.
