Several LAPD police officers opened fire on a vehicle in Torrance, CA without following standard protocol for engaging suspects with deadly force. The two innocent women in the vehicle were given no commands, no instructions and no opportunity to surrender before at least seven police officers opened fire on the vehicle the women were driving, severely wounding one of them.
The LAPD plans to conduct its own investigation into the incident. We believe a police department reviewing itself for misconduct is a gross conflict of interest and request an independent investigation by the DoJ.
We further request the officers be charged with the dozens of crimes as a citizen would be, e.g., attempted manslaughter, public and reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, etc.
