Order the DOJ to investigate War Veteran and Occupy Oakland protestor Scott Olsen's police brutality claim.

Created by Z.B. on October 28, 2011

In the early morning of October 25th, 2011, the Oakland Police department evicted Occupy Oakland protestors from the encampments at Frank Ogawa Plaza and Snow Park. Later that evening, protestors rallied and marched to take back Frank Ogawa Plaza. Police repeatedly fired tear gas in response. During this march, Iraq War Veteran and Occupy Oakland protestor Scott Olsen was struck in the head by what bystanders claim was a gas canister fired by police. As other protestors rushed to his aid, police allegedly threw a flash-bang grenade at them. Scott Olsen's skull was fractured, and as of the writing of this petition, he is still in critical condition. The Department of Justice has declined to investigate Mr. Olsen's claim that he was brutalized by police that night. This is unacceptable.
