order the DOJ to prosecute the 3 major cell carriers for forcing smartphone customers to buy data plans.

Created by M.T. on February 03, 2013

Order the Department of Justice to investigate, with intent to prosecute, the 3 major cell phone carriers for mandating that anyone using a smartphone also be charged for a data plan, regardless of customer wishes.

A few reasons why this is illegal:

1 - a phone's ability to use data is not a valid technical reason to restrict a device, according to the suite that broke up the AT&T monopoly decades ago.
2 - These carriers are adding data plans to customer's service against their will, charging such as $30 extra per month.
3 - The carriers colluded in establishing this policy all simultaneously -- a monopoly abuse preventing the customer from access to reasonable alternatives.

Too little room here to continue or add pertinent details, unfortunately..
